How much does Dots cost? ChatGPT plans compared

There is no standalone Dots subscription: you buy a ChatGPT plan, and choosing between tiers is really choosing how much work your Dot can get through.

OpenAI does not sell Dots on its own. One Dot comes with every ChatGPT Pro tier, whether you pay $100, $200 or $500, and with Business Premium seats, which cost $125 per seat monthly or $100 billed yearly. The tiers differ in allowance, not in the number of Dots. Talking to your Dot is free of limits, but anything it starts in ChatGPT Work or Codex draws on your plan, and OpenAI has published no figure for what proactive research consumes. A second Dot, extra speed and a bigger monthly workload are due to cost extra later.

Start with the $100 tier. Every Pro level includes exactly one Dot, so paying more buys headroom and speed rather than a second agent.
At DevDay 2026 the $200 tier was cut back to 10x Plus usage and a weekly quota of 100 GPT-6 Pro messages. People already on it hold on to the previous limits for a while and get a one-off credit.
Pro leaves Dots out in Switzerland, the UK and the EEA. There, only Business Premium seats carry it, and they are sold with a minimum of two seats.
OpenAI has published no figure for how much of your allowance proactive research consumes. Keep an eye on your remaining limits in the first weeks rather than assuming background work is free.
