# ChatGPT Pro adds a $500 tier as the $200 plan loses allowance

The top plan brings Ultrafast, which pushes GPT-6 Astra to 300 tokens a second, and the $200 tier's usage allowance shrinks at the same time.

OpenAI has added a $500-a-month tier to ChatGPT Pro, Engadget and The Decoder reported. Its headline attraction is Ultrafast, which lets GPT-6 Astra produce up to 300 tokens a second; OpenAI says work in Codex and ChatGPT Work gets up to eight times quicker as a result. The tier also carries the highest usage limits of any Pro plan.

Developers can reach Ultrafast through the API as well, where it costs six times the normal rate. At the same time, according to Engadget, OpenAI trimmed the usage allowance on the existing $200-a-month Pro plan, so subscribers on that tier get less for the same money and may reach their limits sooner than they did before.

Every Pro tier, beginning at $100 a month, includes one Dot, so the new plan is not a requirement for using OpenAI's agent. OpenAI intends to bill separately in future for extra Dots, faster output and a larger monthly workload, but it has given no figure for what heavy proactive use by a Dot will eventually cost.

What it means for you

A personal agent is seldom held back by speed, so the $100 tier is the sensible place to begin. Upgrade only if your Dot keeps exhausting its allowance.
