September 20, 2026 LowMuse GeekWire and The Register reported in late September that Amazon had cut Muse off. Shoppers who send the agent to Amazon now meet a warning about unauthorised agents. Amazon acted after Meta would not agree to leave the store out of the agent's shopping features. Amazon's complaint rests on two points: Muse browses without declaring itself to be an agent, and it seems to retain the credentials customers use to sign in to Amazon. Neither is a bug in the usual sense. The failure is one of identity and consent between two platforms, and the user ends up in the middle, holding the account being used. Amazon has taken similar action before against Perplexity's Comet and against agents from OpenAI and Google. The sources report no resolution. Retailers have made clear that they want agents to sign their requests and pass through official checkout protocols, and it is not yet known whether Meta will adapt Muse to that model. ## Who was affected Muse users who shop on Amazon The lesson: Before sending an agent to a store, check that the store accepts agents, because forcing past a block can get your own account flagged.
