Muse answers on iPhone and Android, in its Mac app, at muse.ai and inside WhatsApp, and Meta intends to bring it to AI glasses. Meta released Muse on 8 September 2026 as an agent for the errands of ordinary life, built on its Muse Spark model. No other big lab offers a free tier worth the name: Muse Free grants 100 million Muse tokens each week, though sign-up demands a payment card. Above it sit Muse Power at $20 a month and Muse Maximum at $100 a month. Only Canadian and American adults can use it for now, and Meta has not said when other countries will follow. ## Errands by text message Muse is built to be messaged. You christen it, design an avatar and write to it wherever is handiest, whether that is the phone app, the Mac app, the muse.ai website or a WhatsApp thread, and its memory stays the same across all of them. A typical day might see it tracking down a present, arranging a journey, dealing with an email or a payment, or putting something up for sale on Marketplace, and it will offer ideas of its own too. Consumption is counted in tokens, not tasks, so a single long browsing session drains far more of the weekly allowance than several quick questions. ## What it gets right Nothing else from a large lab asks so little of a beginner. The weekly allowance given away free is the most generous anywhere, and because Muse lives inside WhatsApp there is barely anything to learn. Its instincts are for household admin: buying, booking, selling and reminding. Tie-ups with Shopify and PayPal smooth the checkout on the stores they cover. The two paid plans carry identical features and differ only in how many tokens arrive each week, 500 million on Power and 3 billion on Maximum. Days after launch it was already heading the App Store charts. ## Growing pains The first weeks have been bumpy. Amazon barred Muse from its shop when Meta declined to strip Amazon from the experience, and anyone who tries to buy there now meets a warning about unauthorised agents. A security researcher uncovered a weakness that might have laid bare one user's Secure VM; Meta graded it SEV-2 and sharpened its warnings. Most troubling of all, a reviewer described his Muse giving his home address to a stranger buying on Marketplace and accepting lowball bids without consulting him. Then there is geography: beyond Canada and the US it is simply not offered. ## Minding what it knows Every account is issued a private Muse Secure VM, where the agent lives alongside copies of the email and files you connect. Muse checks with you before sensitive actions, but the address episode shows that an approval prompt is not the same thing as discretion. Sensible defaults are modest ones: link only the accounts an errand needs, set down a standing instruction to keep your home address, phone number and daily schedule private, and insist on your sign-off before it accepts a bid or pays for anything.
